Raw Art was founded by artists Laura Blaconá and Alberto Toscano in San Francisco, California. They have been producing beautiful functional art pieces since 1994. Their creations are based on a process of Venetian Glassmaking called Millefiori, which in Italian means "a thousand flowers." Instead of glass, Alberto and Laura use Polymer Clay which allows them to create more intricate and detailed work. Using the Millefiori technique, and creating their very own color palette, Raw Art produces unique and innovative works of art.
New Directions: “Painting with Clay”
![]() |
Raw Art's most recent innovative works depart from the Millefiori look, and the artists describe their new style as "painting with clay". Instead of rolling the Polymer Clay, they mix colors with a pasta roller, achieving a mottled, marbleized, blended look. The new mix is combined with other rolled pieces, and sometimes painted to produce an entirely new look.
